Three people were injured earlier today after a 200-pound propane tank exploded at a home in the Town of Gallatin, Columbia County.
Two of the victims were transported to an unknown trauma center by helicopter while an ambulance transported the third victim to Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson according to officials from the Columbia County emergency management office.
At about 11:30 a.m., firefighters responded to a call for a propane tank leak at 1185 Jackson Corners Road, located just off the border of Dutchess and Columbia counties.
The explosion happened as firefighters arrived at the scene. Fire officials said the family called to report the gas leak and had been away on vacation since Friday.
The victims were removed from the rubble, fire officials said.
Firefighters from Milan, Pine Plains, Livingston and Elizaville responded. _________________
